Genadendal | Genadendal Mission Village
Genadendal was founded as a Moravian mission station in 1738, the first in Africa, and became the home of the first teachers’ training college in South Africa. The church square and surrounds house 26 national monuments, and the contents of the museum has been declared a National Cultural Treasure. A restaurant serves traditional dishes, a gift shop offers local crafts, and Emil Weder House provides self-catering accommodation. Conference facilities are also available.
